ConnectLife pint for pint program

We’ve proudly teamed up with ConnectLife, WNY’s only community blood center and federally designated organ, eye, and tissue procurement agency for the fourth consecutive year! The “Pint for a Pint” program promotes the critical need for blood donation in our community.

Throughout the month of March, every person who donates blood at any ConnectLife blood drive will receive a coupon for a free pint of Perry’s Ice Cream redeemable at grocery and convenience stores.

By donating blood, you’re doing a lot of good! Did you know one pint of blood can save up to three lives? All the blood that ConnectLife receives stays local, supporting healthcare organizations like Kaleida Health, ECMC, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Eastern Niagara Health, Wyoming County Community Health System, Olean General Hospital, Brooks-TLC Health System and Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Summer Blood Donors Help to Ensure Local Supply

Blood donations generally decrease in the summer and around holidays, while the need for blood transfusions can increase. As the 4th of July approaches, ConnectLife is reminding Western New Yorkers that their summertime donations help to ensure that local hospitals and patients have a safe and adequate supply of blood.

With schools and colleges in recess and many people out enjoying warm weather, the summer has historically been a time when fewer people donate blood. Unfortunately, summer also brings a spike in accidents, meaning there is an increased need. Recognizing this challenge, ConnectLife is partnering with Perry’s Ice Cream this July, National Ice Cream Month, to spread the word and encourage the community to give blood.

Presenting donors at every ConnectLife blood drive from July 1-31 will receive a voucher for a pint of Perry’s Ice Cream, redeemable at participating local grocery and convenience stores. Four lucky donors throughout the month will also receive an exclusive Perry’s prize pack. While ConnectLife will not be open on the 4th, donors at blood drives on July 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 will be entered to win one of two $100 Amazon gift cards raffled off each day.

“We’re proud to partner with ConnectLife for a third consecutive year to support the critical need for blood donations in our community.” said Gayle Perry Denning, Chief Marketing Officer at Perry’s.

“What better way to thank donors for their life saving pint than with a pint of extra indulgent Perry’s Ice Cream.  Since this year’s drive coincides with National Ice Cream month, we are expecting to set a record for donations.  Join our team in donating a pint at any ConnectLife Blood Drive in July to receive your free pint of extra indulgent Perry’s Ice Cream. Together we can make a difference in our neighbors’ lives,” added Perry Denning.

For every pint of blood collected through the Give a Pint Get a Pint promotion up to three lives can be saved in Western New York. ConnectLife is the primary supplier of blood products to Kaleida Health, ECMC, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Wyoming County Community Health System, Olean General Hospital, Brooks Memorial Hospital and Bradford Regional Medical Center.

As WNY’s only community blood bank it is our responsibility to answer the call for blood products to ANY hospital in need, but we need help from blood donors to do that. Please visit www.ConnectLifeGiveBlood.org or call 716.529.4270 for drive locations and to make an appointment.

Fundraising initiative will raise money for organizations fighting food insecurity in Black communities

BUFFALO, N.Y. (January 28, 2022) — As Black History Month begins, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres announce Better Together, a One Buffalo fundraising initiative to benefit organizations that are fighting food insecurity in Black and African American communities.

Through Better Together, the Buffalo Bills Foundation and Buffalo Sabres Foundation have partnered to raise funds for five local organizations that are working to ensure families have access to healthy, nutritious food in Black and African American communities:

  • African Heritage Food Co-op
  • Buffalo Center for Health Equity
  • Buffalo Freedom Gardens
  • Buffalo Go Green
  • Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH)

The Bills and Sabres Foundations will be making donations totaling $120,000 to these organizations throughout the first week of February and are asking the community to participate. Fans are invited to donate at bettertogetherbuffalo.org from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4. Better Together is also being supported by Perry’s Ice Cream, which will match the first $20,000 in online donations from funds that were accrued through the sale of their “Let’s Dough Buffalo!®” ice cream.

“Food insecurity is a serious problem in our community, and we are joining together to help fight it, specifically for our Black and African American neighbors,” said event organizers Michelle Roberts (Bills Foundation) and Rich Jureller (Sabres Foundation). “We encourage our fans to be Better Together, and join us in supporting these incredible organizations.”

“Perry’s Ice Cream is proud to partner with both the Sabres and Bills Foundations on this unique fundraising campaign kicking off Black History Month. These five Buffalo centric organizations are doing amazing work in our community fighting food insecurity and Perry’s is honored to support their important cause,” said Gayle Perry Denning, VP Strategic Branding & Corporate Sustainability.

All members of the community are invited to join Better Together and make an online donation at bettertogetherbuffalo.org. The initiative runs from Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 4. Every donor will receive a Better Together pin designed by local Black artist Edreys Wajed. Anyone who donates $35 or more will receive a tote along with the pin.
